General Info

Tucked along 5200 S Grand Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63111, Doña Gloria is the kind of neighborhood Mexican restaurant that immediately feels welcoming. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed, the type of place where people drop in for brunch with friends or settle in for a comforting meal after a long day. From the moment you step inside, the space feels lively yet comfortable, reflecting the spirit of a locally loved dining spot.

One of the first things that stands out about Doña Gloria is how the menu leans into classic Mexican comfort food while keeping the flavors bold and satisfying. A great place to start is the Red & Green Salsa and Chips, which arrive fresh and vibrant. The salsa has that balanced mix of heat and tang that wakes up your appetite without overwhelming it. It’s the kind of starter that makes you linger at the table a bit longer, chatting while you explore the rest of the menu.

Among the standout dishes is the Mole Mexicano Mexican Mole. The sauce is rich, layered, and deeply savory-exactly what you’d hope for from a traditional mole. It coats the dish with a smooth, slightly smoky flavor that feels both comforting and indulgent. Another popular choice is the Pollo Feliz Happy Chicken, a dish that perfectly captures the restaurant’s approach to hearty Mexican cooking. The chicken is flavorful and satisfying, making it a reliable favorite for both regulars and first-time visitors.

Seafood lovers tend to gravitate toward the Aguachile, which brings a refreshing contrast to the heavier dishes. Bright, zesty, and lively with citrus notes, it adds a fresh dimension to the menu. Meanwhile, if you want something classic and filling, the Three Tacos Plate is a solid choice. Each taco delivers a balance of texture and flavor that highlights the kitchen’s attention to detail.

Beyond the food, Doña Gloria stands out for its welcoming vibe and community-focused identity. The restaurant identifies as LGBTQ+ owned, which adds to the inclusive and friendly atmosphere that many diners appreciate. Service is relaxed and approachable, fitting the casual setting perfectly. It’s easy to settle in, enjoy a leisurely brunch, or meet friends for a laid-back meal.

The dining experience here feels genuine. The menu focuses on approachable comfort food, the environment is easygoing, and practical touches like debit card payments make the visit smooth and convenient. With its accessible location on South Grand Boulevard and a menu packed with flavorful Mexican favorites, Doña Gloria continues to earn positive reviews from locals who appreciate both the food and the welcoming spirit behind it.

What customers say?

“ amazing food, I got the Al Pastor tacos, perfectly seasoned and the meat was juicy and tender. They were out of the Nopales when I went but I'm excited to come back to try them! ”

“ Thrilled that we found this hidden gem on South Grand. Our meal started with chips and guacamole. The guacamole comes with or without jalapeños and we did without. Great flavor and texture with small pieces of tomato. I had the quesabirria and the were amazing! They were filled with tender pieces of beef, onions and cilantro. My husband had the tamales and they were fantastic too! The restaurant is very clean and staff are warm and welcoming. ”

- Alissa Boehner -

“ I liked my selection of Mole. It was full of flavor but would have been improved if there were some veggies with the meal, perhaps as a small plate with lettuce and tomatoes. Also, this place did not serve complimentary chips and salsa. That was disappointing. ”

- Suzanne Chisum -

“ Great addition to the south side palate. Doña Gloria is a quaint, clean, cute little restaurant boasting authentically Mexican dishes! They have familiar favorites AND more exclusive and rarified dishes and ingredients. ”

- Martin -Oki- McCabe -

“ Let me start off by saying this place is adorable! My biggest issue was figuring out where the entrance was. We noticed others struggling as it isn’t clearly marked. (Go through gate) The tortilla chips are made in house and come with two different salsas. Salsas are good, the red has a lil kick and the salsa verde is so good. I’m not a fan of hand made tortilla chips but my husband loved them! I ordered the happy chicken and it was delicious!! The chicken was slightly over cooked and the rice was WAY over cooked. My husband had the fajita burrito and it’s HUGE!! Way bigger than my hand. Hands down it’s better than chimichangas up the street. They do not sell alcohol at this time. I’m unsure if they will but getting a liquor license takes time. The prices are very reasonable. We will definitely come again. ”

“ I think this place was pretty good. We enjoy trying new places for Taco Tuesday, and we're glad we stopped here. They serve a red and green salsa with their chips. We tried their chicken taquitos and beef chimichanga, which were both pretty good. A sign on the door said they are not serving any alcohol beverages at this time. ”

- Julie Creech -

“ I never want to order food when the weather's bad, but they were open so I went ahead and ordered. The food was incredible and they were so kind, and it's a stone's throw from my front door. Will absolutely be back!!! ”

- Rei F. -

“ I flew in on a business trip from Los Angeles, LA has some of the best Mexican food ive ever had. For a small clean restaurant in St. Louis this place can compete with any place ive ever been. The food was absolutely delicious and the server was super nice. This place is a must try if you are ever in St. Louis. I can see why it is a gem among the community. ”
